Editing Software for Writers

Read Time:1 Minute, 26 Second
Writing Improvement Software
Great for Self-Editing Authors

Editing software for writers should be part of every author’s toolbox. While there many available, one we highly recommend is ProWritingAid.

ProWritingAid is an excellent resource because it integrates with Microsoft Word, Open Office, and Google Docs. There is no reason to copy and paste.

Works with Scrivener

We’ve worked on several projects for full-length novels written in Scrivener, another of our favorite writing tools. When it was time to revise and edit the first draft, ProWritingAid worked extremely well. We were able to open the Scrivener manuscript using the ProWritingAid’s Desktop App. Consequently, it was absolutely time saving to edit right from where the story was written. Again, no need to copy and paste.

Editing software is like an editor in a box

This editing software is like having a personal editor in a box. With a click of a button it highlights spelling mistakes, overused words, and finds repeating phrases. Grammar and readability checks are just as easy too. ProWritingAid identifies sentences that are too long and how many sentences in a row begin with the same word. These features make it easier to spot errors and fix them in a lot less time. In addition, this software comes with a Thesaurus that allows you to explore different word choices.

Reports on writing style

The writing style report highlights areas including passive verbs, hidden verbs, emotional tells, readability, and much more. This allows the writer to proactively fix style problems before sending a manuscript to a copyeditor. Let’s face it, who wouldn’t want a more polished work to submit?

Every author knows writing takes work. Tools like editing software just make it easier.  Every little bit helps, right?
